Location: Corporate Human Resources
Purpose: The Labor Relations Specialist position assists with Labor relations matters by gathering and collecting information, maintaining documents and records required for negotiations, reviewing data, contract administration, and compliance.
Essential Functions:
- Maintains and communicates the company’s labor relations programs, policies, and procedures
- Assists Labor Relations team with researching allegations made in grievances and arbitrations; supports the negotiations process
- Tracks the expiration and status updates of collective bargaining agreements; facilitates the execution of negotiated terms of the collective bargaining agreements
- Supports the implementation of new or updated collective bargaining agreements by partnering with Payroll, HR Technology, Benefits, Field HR, and Operations
- Gathers information and assists in analyzing internal metrics for reporting, streamlining, documentation, and improvement of processes
- Supports grievance administration, arbitration, and other administrative proceedings
- Assists in auditing adherence to the collective bargaining agreements
Reporting Relationship: The Labor Relations Specialist reports into the Senior Director of Labor Relations
Major Interdependencies: Operations, Operational Excellence, Risk Management, and Corporate People and Culture Competency Centers, and People and Culture Operations.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:
- Education and Experience: The combination of education and professional experience must exceed 2 years:
- In a technical role: Requires 2 years of HR experience engaged in Labor Relations programs
- In the industry: 2 years of Hospitality, F&B and/or Retail experience
- Specialized Training:
- Training that leads to a working knowledge of employment-related federal, state, and local laws and regulations
- Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits
- Requires the ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and policy documents
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; requires ability to build collaborative partnerships and experience working with other departments
- Requires the ability to analyze information to routinely recommend resolutions to problems and challenges; excellent problem-solving and writing skills
- Business acumen and also has the mindset required to understand the long-term implications of Labor Relations planning and to advance the organizations goals
- Demonstrated history of understanding the needs of the business, stakeholders, the employee population and individual circumstances
- Location: This position is based at the North America Support Center in Bethesda, MD
